Welcome CV Motorbikes Viking Cats Role-Playing House
In 1996 I bought my first home. It is a somewhat unusual house in Leytonstone, East London. Originally built in the 1890's as a Public House, it has been many things over the years. To the best of my knowledge, it has been used as a Greengrocers, Off Licence, Tablet packing business and most recently divided into two flats. With the recession in the housing market in 1996, I was able to pick up a large and unusual house for a bargain price.

However, years of neglect have taken their toll. When I moved in, the landlord who had been renting it out had clearly paid no attention to its upkeep. As a result, I am having to completely strip every room, down to bare plaster and boards before starting again.

Despite all this, some period features remain. Here you can see where my father has unearthed the original Victorian staircase from some seventies modernisation. The front room downstairs still has original wood panelling on two of the walls, and I have tried to join some more in unobtrusively. The original Shopfront has long been removed, however, there is still the cast iron pole at the front of the house to support the weight of the first floor.

The cellar is quite large and there is the traditional  "trap" in the front where barrels of beer would be delivered.

It is taking us a very long time, but slowly we are making progress.
